He is the former CEO of American Express Japan, Bankers Trust Japan, and Johnson Matthey. His experiences range from introducing to Japan American Express' traveler's cheques and credit cards as well as world-wide network of merchant banking services as its first Japanese CEO in 1973. He serves on the boards of numerous corporations, educational institutions and charitable foundations. He received both his BA and MBA from Harvard University.
