Analyst Program

Description

The APL Analyst Program is a two-year Asia-based program that begins with robust training. Topics covered during the training include real estate and private equity underwriting, financial modeling, accounting, deal structuring, key legal and compliance matters, and a thorough primer on APL’s investment approach.

New analysts would join a highly-skilled team of investment professionals. APL’s lean deal teams and the broad variety of transactions in which we are engaged allow new analysts to take on significant responsibility and gain deal experience soon after joining.

Responsibilities

  • Work within small teams to prepare concise and well-articulated investment memoranda for consideration of our Investment Review Committee
  • Conduct industry research, analyze trends, and identify investment themes
  • Research and assess local markets, country-specific and international economic and property market trends
  • Contribute to key diligence work streams, including assisting in the analysis of legal documents such as purchase and sale agreements, loan agreements, and other transaction documents
  • Model cash flow projections and scenarios, including performance of sensitivity and risk analyses
  • Evaluate financing proposals and alternatives
  • Work closely with deal teams to coordinate transaction closings and financings
  • Monitor the performance and risk factors for existing investments

Qualifications

  • Outstanding record of achievement at a top undergraduate institution
  • Sound investment judgment, exceptional research, quantitative and analytical skills, and experience with valuation
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a concise and effective manner
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a team and independently
  • In addition to fluent English, Japanese, Chinese, and/or European language experience is useful but not required
